Built Green

Built Green (TM) is an industry-driven program that promotes environmentally sound building practices to reduce the impact that building has on the environment.

Currently available in Alberta and British Columbia to all members of participating Home Builders’ Associations, the program includes mandatory builder training, third-party testing, inspections and audits.

Built Green (TM) adds value to homes by recognizing and promoting the use of environmentally-friendly practices and products.

The program has four main environmental focuses:

• Energy effciency
• Indoor air quality
• Resource use (including waste management)
• Overall environmental impact

Improvements in these areas are achieved and measured through the use of EnerGuide labelling and the Built Green (TM) checklist.

How does it work?

Builders and home buyers can choose to participate in the program at one of four different levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
